Love the article. Living in the Midwest puts a different spin on this topic than living in the Southwest. I still agree that farm subsidies are bad, but now I know people whose livelihoods depend on keeping these subsidies. The transition to no farm subsidies would be hard on their families and hard on the region. I still think Congress should end the subsidies, but now I'm too chicken to say so out loud anywhere.
What's a nice way to say your family's income from farm subsidies is putting a drain on our national resources, is contributing to national obesity which in turn is screwing up the healthcare system?

Good article! Of course it leaves me feeling no less frustrated about how I can only afford crappy food to feed to my family!
