Darth Vader is Crazy

At least, that's what some guys in France think.

I have to say, however, that this is not completely fair to Vader. Doesn't he get any credit for overthrowing the Emperor, saving Luke and the Rebellion, and acknowledging the good that is within him in the end? Geez, people. Give the guy a break.

I actually think they may be letting Vader off the hook here. I don't think he had BPD. I think he listened to the wrong influences and slowly started making poor choices that lead him to make even worse choices, etc. Giving him a mental illness somehow alleviates him from taking responsibility for his actions. Having said that, he also in the end worked to undo the consequnces of those choices. He helped to create the empire and he helped to bring it down. Why? Because his son, in spite of all Vader had done, believed he was worth forgiving and he was. If only people could see the power of forgiveness in this saga. That would be a lot more helpful than teaching psych students how to diagnose mental illness.
